THE SQUAD

Foundation CrossFit is run by a team comprised of a plethora of different individuals from different athletic and educational experiences. There a two important factors that each of the staff possess:

1.) a passion for health & fitness, movement, and strength & conditioning
2.) experience in what we teach our athletes

We’ve been in the trenches doing what we ask our athletes to do, so we understand what it takes to smash goals. We also understand that fitness is an ever-evolving process and ask questions and continue to learn and so should you, whether becoming competitive at CrossFit or another sport, or just building strength and mobility to live a long, healthy life.

Andrew Bueno

Director of Training, Head Instructor, Co-Owner

ABOUT

AB enjoys coffee, watching Action/Adventure/Fantasy/Sci-Fi films, shoes, the Oxford comma, and tasty foods. He suffers from a slight Napoleon Complex and some sort of attention deficit disorder, which he credits to his ability to teach multiple people at once. Speaking of which, he’s a big fan of Napolean pockets. And pants with four-way stretch. And shoes. Did we mention that?

Andrew started CrossFit in 2006 and was put through his first official CrossFit workout “CHRISTINE” with Coach Dave Werner at CrossFit North (now Level 4 CrossFit Seattle), the first-ever affiliate. AB has been working on his fitness mainly using the CrossFit methodology since, remembering how this all started. Appreciating all training styles, movement cultures, and schools of thought, he continues to learn from different methodologies and specialists, considering himself a student first and foremost.

When not in the gym Andrew enjoys reading blogs about film, watching films, and spending time with his lovely girlfriend, their daughter, and their dog Appa the Frenchie. Collecting shoes and backpacks are one of his favorite pastimes. Someday he’d like to travel, but first he has to get over the laziness that accompanies planning the trip and deciding what to pack.

You can currently find Andrew teaching the morning Barbell Club, various evening CrossFit classes, and weekend Level 2 classes.

Real-life Rocket Scientist and Business Mastermind, Tony stays busy solving puzzles and your problems. He’s often responsible for making magic happen and possesses the ability to fix anything by the power of his mere presence. He is the turbo propeller beneath Andrew’s wings, and his eye for talent brought you the FCF you know and love today. When he’s not busy behind the scenes wheeling and dealing, you can find him showing off on the still rings or secretly training your dog to revolt against you.

Andrea is our Matriarch of the Morning and Mother to “Baby Gino”, whose lifetime of gymnastics experience informs her exceptional body awareness, ability, and teaching, but also shows on her face when you try her because Mama Ain’t Got Time. If you’re wondering if you’re on her good side or bad side, the answer is always a resounding, “Yes.” She can be found with wee babe attached to hip or t*t and making sure you leave the gym how you found it.

Why yes, those familiar buns of steel do belong to our very own Gus. Man of Mystery with a Heart of Gold, Advocate for the Downtrodden and Disenfranchised, he specializes in uplifting your spirit and gluteus maximus. Never not working, when he’s not at FCF, he and the dinosaur on his leg can be found patiently taking your brunch order or begrudgingly shopping for craft supplies with his boyfriend.

Sarah Mohr

the Muscle Car

ABOUT

If Gaia, Mother of the Earth, made love to a Titan, you’d get Coach Sarah–or SMOHR, as her teammates call her because you’ll certainly want that, some more. With all the warmth of the sun, her award winning hugs will remedy your cloudy day and anoint you with the strength and power of your untapped potential. She can be found training for triathlons, tending to her farm, and will soon be rescuing limp bodies from burning buildings.

Although she brings a light-heartedness and a ton of fun to wherever she goes, Muscle Car is a competitor at heart. Expect a throw down with the best of them, regardless if she’s training strictly in CrossFit or building up her endurance for another triathalon.

Outside of the gym, Sarah is pursuing a career in fire fighting. She loves coffee, sunshine, doughnuts, raising chickens with her boyfriend, and craft beer (in that order). Beep, beep!

You can train with Sarah when she teaches the afternoon CrossFit classes as well as the Endurance Club meetups!

Adrian Tunaya

Weightlifting Extraordinaire, Pop Tart Connoisseur

ABOUT

Adrian is our resident weightlifter who stumbled in from out of nowhere (Florida) and just never left. When you feel the burning sensation of eyes judging you for muscling through snatches or cleans, it’s probably him. Known for his “slaps” and whispering of sweet nothings into the ears, which help motivate those lifting PR’s, athletes can get a taste of his coaching at Barbell Club and CrossFit classes.

If he’s not training or yelling at people, he’s enjoying his time with food, enjoying movies, or going out for some shenanigans. He also says to “swipe right” if you see him anywhere.

Sheena Camagong

The First Lady of FCF, Freckled Flourishes Calligraphy

ABOUT

Dubbed “First Lady” for a reason: Sheena was been there since the beginning. She’s a simple girl that loves life, food, sports, and most of all her pup (and gym mascot) Appa the Frenchie. She might have a small addiction to Nike, Lululemon, and Bombsheller, but that’s different story. When she’s not training others or working out herself, you can find her working on her calligraphy hobby, enjoying Seattle nature, or playing games on her iPhone. If you haven’t met her yet, introduce yourself!

In her free time she enjoys writing calligraphy and spending time with friends and family.

Sheena usually coaches the afternoon and evening CrossFit classes as well as the Kettlebell SC classes.

Although he doesn’t look a day over 21, Mr. Salva is an easy going guy and, like most of the other staff, never thought himself to eventually become a CrossFit trainer. His advice: don’t CrossFit on an empty stomach- especially if the only thing you’ve eaten for the day was a cupcake for breakfast. This gem of knowledge came from his first CF workout that laid him out white as a ghost.

Tina Le


ABOUT

When it comes to being an athlete, Tina is a late bloomer, who got hooked on Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in her late 20s. Her personal transformation inspired her to become a fitness professional in order to help others uncap their athletic potential.

Before joining the FCF team, she spent her days teaching people how to properly punch and kick, and now she leads our evening HellaFit classes. She also produces and co-hosts  HellaFit Radio with AB!

Her dream is to one day be a strength and conditioning coach for elite-level fighters. Her side dream is to have her own travel show where she gets to eat and drink her way around the world. Tina’s equal parts a lover and a fighter. And she’s never met a beer she didn’t like.

Tina runs all HellaFit classes, which you can attend any Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday!

He is FCF’s Original Success Story, so don’t go complaining to him about your fitness troubles…unless you need first aid, then he should definitely be your first choice. He can be found–hardly ever–grunting under a barbell on some evenings sometimes…or bro-ing out on his chest and biceps in the back near the mirror.

Leslie Bower


ABOUT

A practitioner some forms of Chinese Medicine and CrossFit, Leslie is amazingly proficient at being objective about people’s bodies and how to improve them. Hailing from Boise, ID her favorite movie is The Breakfast Club and her favorite food is Kale. Before CrossFit she was a runner/cyclist/swimmer. When not CFing Les like to telemark and skate ski, as well as farm and garden. She found out that building chicken coops require much strength and stamina, and raising them requires speed, mobility, agility, and accuracy FOR REAL!

Jessie West


ABOUT

Jessie hales from Massachusetts but has spent the last decade calling the PNW home and has no intentions on leaving anytime soon. Growing up in a small town where there was little to do, she dabbled in any activity or sport available. She was a three sport athlete in high school, played some college softball, and was introduced to her love of hiking in college while taking a class where they hiked at night. After college she became a weekend warrior doing things such as hiking, backpacking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, and snowboarding, however her life turned more and more sedentary as she aged and found herself at a corporate desk job which was slowly killing her, mentally and physically.

She started at CrossFit SLU six months after her husband. “I never expected to like CrossFit. I have never been a joiner of trends. Having come from a team sport background, I never thought individual suffering seemed like fun, but as it turns out, we don’t always know ourselves. It has been a long time since I felt as passionate about anything the way I do about CrossFit. I want to give back to a community that has changed my life. I want to be an active participant in helping others transform their lives.

Now Jessie can be found working out at 6AM, coaching AM classes, or behind our front desk as Office Manager. When not at the gym and lying low, she can be found dosing on good and bad television, trying to cook or figure out ways to get out of it, or herding her cats. When out and about she can be found walking Greenlake or the John Wayne Trail, hiking the Cascades, backpacking, and kiteboard spectating at Jetty Island or La Ventana, Mexico. She would like to do more traveling in the upcoming years. There have been discussions of trekking Patagonia, walking from Prague to Vienna, and hiking the John Muir Trail. She would also like to try bicycle touring, rafting the Grand Canyon, and eventually call herself a kiteboarder… someday!

Anthony Palmieri


ABOUT

Raised in the swamplands of the Everglades, “Miami,” as he is otherwise known, cut his teeth as personal trainer to the stars (Russell Brand) and appeared as fitness model in wildly successful regional infomercials for the Ab Roller Deluxe. Now a Masters athlete, he balances his time sharing his knowledge and wisdom with the younger generation and can often be found taking care of his body that has served him well over in Mobility Corner.

Nathan Motsinger


ABOUT

Nathan started his CrossFit career with us back in 2011 and has been a prime example of what hard work and dedication can produce!

Being an athlete his whole life, Nathan played baseball on Seattle U’s club team and continues to enjoy all outdoor activities – from hiking to wake surfing to snow skiing. He loves coffee, dogs, traveling, whiskey, the Fast and Furious movies, and during the day he enjoys working as a web designer.

Since joining Foundation CrossFit, he has seen this gym grow and it has become a second home for him. Watching FCF evolve through multiple location changes and witnessing a growing group of amazing trainers, he has seen the care and dedication this team puts into everything they do. This is one of the many reasons that he decided to pursue coaching at FCF – “I hope that I can embrace these aspects that have kept me here all these years and share them with you. I am passionate about this community and its fitness, and I will strive to show that passion every day.

Robyn Stewart


ABOUT

Robyn is a natural-born leader of people- she’s played and coached at various levels of sports, mostly basketball. She found FCF in 2010 and has been working hard as a Masters-level competitor ever since.

She has worked in the fitness industry for many years designing layouts for fitness facilities, making new friends in the community at large, and now lends her talents to our gym fam.

Colin Bleckner


ABOUT

Colin has twice sworn that he would never spend another day of his life stuck behind a desk, yet somehow finds himself back in an office, working for an internet startup in San Francisco.

Active in sports his entire life, he never enjoyed going to the gym until stumbling across CrossFit in early 2009. He’s been hooked since, becoming Level I Certified in 2010. Colin has finally accepted the fact that he won’t be a professional athlete and has readjusted his long term goals to include preparing for the Crossfit Games Masters Division (2030 or bust!) and hopefully some day being flexible enough to touch his toes tries touching his toes while stretching more often.

Kristina Bueno


ABOUT

Having worked at almost every health care facility in Seattle, working in every medical business from selling diapers to the elderly, to implementing electronic medical records in a doctor’s office, to clinical intake for Seattle Children’s hospital. KB continually strives to improve the quality of health care (and fitness!) for all.

When she’s not doing mental WODs during the day, she enjoys working on her olympic weightlifting and muscle-ups, eating ice-cream, and one day hopes to muscle-up while eating ice-cream. As a former bgirl, she can six-step into a freeze or hollowback, on beat!

Megan Puhl


ABOUT

MP come from a place where everyone is called “darlin’”, bright dresses are worn to football games, and all the food is fried. Megan and her husband picked up our lives in Virginia and moved to Seattle in January 2013 where they had wanted make a home for themselves.

After years of up-and-down weight and workout routines, she decided a CrossFit gym might be just the ticket to enabling healthy habits and maybe meet some people. CrossFit was interesting because she comes from a team sports background – softball, field hockey and volleyball were pretty much her life until grad school and became a full time nerd. She loved the idea of cross-training, having someone write the workouts for her, and the camaraderie and motivational benefits of team sports.

So, in March 2013 she went through the Foundations Course at Foundation CrossFit and immediately fell in love. Megan gave herself pep talks before every class for about the first 3 months because she was so nervous. Now she gives them to everyone else in the AM classes and during her mobility classes!

John Grace


ABOUT

John hails from Atlanta and while he loves the south, after high school he headed north to Boston University where he received a BFA in Sculpture.

“Johnny G” through-hiked the Appalachian trail in 2005 and then moved to New York City where he then spent the next 7 years working in Film and Television working on commercials, documentaries, reality-television, and independent movies.

In 2009 he found and fell head over heels for CrossFit. He and his wife decided in 2012 that we had enough of NYC and moved to Seattle.

Throughout the years he’s developed more and more of an interest in climbing. John has been able to accomplish climbs on the west coast that he never would have had the ability to do on the east coast.
